I'd Like to Go Away Alone

I'd Like to Go Away Alone
I'd like to go away alone,
Where there are other, nice people,
Somewhere into the far unknown,
There, where no one kills another.

Maybe more of us,
A thousand strong,
Will reach this goal,
Before too long.

  1. Nadrian, I absolutely love your project. It is definitely the most unique one that I saw. Although it would of been better to possibly make the butterfly more of the main subject, it was still an amazing project. You were able to interpret so much out of such a small poem. Like with the chimney. You based it off of the line talking about leaving before time runs out. That could of been interpreted into many different things but you made it center around death. It could of dealt with someone else's death or before they move to a new camp. I also love how you made the butterfly mean a lot even though it was so tiny. The main point of the poem was that the writer wanted to leave the camp. The fact that you were able to make the butterfly, fly across the box into freedom was very creative. Great job!

  2. Nadrian, I really liked how you had the two walls in your butterfly. I think it enhanced the imagery that the author already had. I also liked how you had different sides to the walls. One good, and one bad.

  3. I would have to say that your project really stands out because there is a different design to it. I thought it was impressive that you created this out of the objects you found around your house. The first thing I would have thought of were gas chambers as well because that is where most Jews died. I can connect my poem to yours to how there are two sides as well. My poem does not state that explicitly, but you can infer she does. Was nature a way to keep the author of poem going? Was simply looking at nature what make the author elated? The author wanted to go to the other side. You were exceptionally creative with this project. Great job!

  4. Nadrian, Your project was really unique. I loved how you didn’t make a butterfly and tried something different. Even though your poem was short you were able to explain everything that you created with good detail. I really liked how you explained why you created it the way you did and gave us some kind of background knowledge on your butterfly. Even though your butterfly was small and was not really he main peace you maid it the most important peace in your project by explaining why you did it and what it meant. Your project also gave great imagery. Your project gave the camp a face and how it looked to the reader when he was writing this poem, which I really appreciated. Overall great job with this project I could really see you understood your poem.

  6. Nadrian, I really liked your butterfly project because it was different from the rest. My favorite part is the way the flying butterfly really makes sense to me now. I understand now that it represents his dreams of traveling to a better place, I thought that was a very interesting part of your project. Maybe next time try to show how more of your materials are connected to the poem, not just say you found them around the house, and that was it. I feel like you were very successful in making your project, especially considering that your poem was really short, not giving you a lot to work with.
