Prompt: Does the title fit the story why or why not?

I think the title does represent the story well. But I also think that they could have done better. The main character of the story is a boy named Jonas which is, "The RECEIVER", so I would think the title would be based off of him rather then of the GIVER. Which is why I think that they could have done a better job with choosing the title.

Although I will admit that the title, "The Giver" is a bit more catchy then it would be as. "The Receiver". But the title represents what I would think would be the second main character since The Giver plays a huge role in the book but doesn't play such a big role as the main character. The title also doesn't give us a big insight in what the book is going to be about, even though not much books do that nowadays.

I really do think that The Giver is a great book, I can see why people would call this a classic. The writing style is so different from all the others, the plot is just amazing, and the character development is flawless. I also think that the book actually makes the reader think about what would happen if we wouldn't have choices and emotions in our life. I would definitely give this book a shot.
